During your on-the-job training with Northern Beaches Council, you'll be employed by HVTC - our traineeship partner. You’ll get ongoing mentoring and support to help you achieve your career goals and unleash your true potential. Complete a Certificate III Early Childhood Education over 12 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation and practical on-the-job experience at one of Northern Beaches Council’s childcare centres. 

Here’s what this job involves:

  • Work with an award-winning team of childcare professionals
  • Earn money while you gain a nationally recognised qualification
  • Provide care of children from six weeks to six years old
  • Host group activities (stories and songs)
  • Ensure a clean and healthy environment for the children
  • Supervise the hygiene of children by assisting them with toilet breaks, changing nappies etc.
  • Develop positive and respectful relationships with children and parents
  • Be given time ‘off the floor’ to program and plan activities for the children
  • Use an approved learning framework to guide practice
  • Support the holistic development of children in early childhood

To be successful in this role, you'll need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Show a passion for working with children
  • Have a strong customer service focus
  • Have time management, attention to detail, planning and organisational skills 
  • Show the ability to work as part of a team and share knowledge
  • Be 18 years of age or older (on commencement of employment)
  • Be willing to complete the study to gain the qualification

It will also help if you have:

  • Current NSW driver’s license
  • Working with Children’s Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
