  • Full time/Permanent/Monday-Friday
  • Located at St Kilda Town Hall, with flexible working arrangements possible.

About the Role

  • Become part of a dynamic group of professional Traffic Engineers in the Transport Safety team.
  • Manage the delivery of the capital works program component of Council’s Move, Connect, Live strategy. That includes development of concepts and draft designs, consultation with community and relevant authorities, securing the necessary permits and ensuring the delivery of projects on time and within budget.
  • Seek and apply for external funding, such as TAC grands, Blackspot funding and similar. 

Duties: 

  • Leading projects from concept to construction in alignment with Council’s objectives.
  • Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Applying for, and be successful in, securing grant applications to improve safety of all road users in Port Phillip. 
  • Advocate for road user safety principles in negotiating with external stakeholders, State Government including Department of Transport.

Skills and Experience 

  • Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering.
  • Senior traffic and transport engineering experience in planning, development and management of sustainable transport capital works from concept, draft to detailed designs.
  • Ability to manage Council lead projects as well as the ability to liaise with key State Government stakeholders to ensure that external lead projects meet Council’s objectives.
  • Proven ability to work constructively, independently and as a member of a high performing team.
