The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role

Play a central role in the delivery of Council’s construction permitting services.  Reporting to the Coordinator City Permits, you will be responsible for the delivery of our timely Local Law decisions and Working Within Road Reserve consents. As a confident communicator of a customer-focused service, they will develop and strengthen relationships with local developers and the community to achieve timely outcomes of a range of development projects.

Duties:

  • Ensure timely determination of permits and consents in accordance with guidelines and polices.
  • Prioritise and coordinate the return of Asset Protection permit bonds.
  • Coordinate decisions that facilitates construction to occur on public land that is safe, accessible and recognises residential amenity.
  • Lead and develop a highly motivated team.
  • Develop and maintain policies and processes. 

Skills and Experience 

  • Knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, guidelines and policies.
  • Achieving outcomes that balance competing interests.
  • Leading and motivating a team. 
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field, or significant experience in a similar role.
