The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced advocacy professional that can hit the ground running and backfill the position of Senior Coordinator Advocacy, Grants and Engagement for a 6 month period.

Reporting to the Manager Corporate Affairs you will coordinate the planning, implementation and communication of Council’s advocacy priorities to influence decision-making and attract government and stakeholder investment in infrastructure, facilities and services that will support Council’s desired vision for the Moonee Valley community.

This position will see you assisting with the proactive and strategic management of Council’s media relations around advocacy priorities, including preparing for potential issues and developing positive media opportunities. You will also lead the coordination of the organisational grants application and grants management program, and coordinate a whole-of-organisation engagement approach.

About You

To be successful for this opportunity, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in political science, public policy or related discipline such as business, marketing or communications;
  • Highly developed analytical skills and experience in policy research;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communications plans and materials;
  • Ability to engage a range of interest groups with a strong sense of political acumen;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written and public presentation, and strong skills in conflict resolution;
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare high quality reports, actions plans, briefing papers, funding submissions and other correspondence;
  • High level project management and time management skills.
