Moree Plains, known as the Spa Capital of Australia and home of the black soil plains, is the most productive agricultural shire in all of Australia. Ideally nestled on the New South Wales and Queensland border, Moree Plains Shire is one of the largest local government areas in the state, with an area of approximately 17,930 square kilometres. Moree is a town rich in culture, heritage, agriculture, and natural assets with each component intertwining to define the characteristics of both the town and the community. It is home to a strong and vibrant rural community that enjoys the vast amount of space and inland lifestyle it has to offer. What is possibly not as widely known is that Moree Plains Shire is also a very culturally diverse community. The Shire boasts a large indigenous population, and the Council is committed to continue to lead the way in reconciliation.

Taking on a new strategic direction aligned with Council’s vision, purpose, and values, the opportunity now exists for a talented, versatile, and progressive leader to join Council in driving the future success of Council and the community. As part of the Executive Leadership team, you will be pivotal in leading Council through this transformational period.

Reporting directly to the General Manager the position will require significant experience in leading change at a senior management level. You will be able to demonstrate genuine leadership qualities, strategic management capabilities, and an ability to create a values-based culture. You will also have a demonstrated capacity to build effective and productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. As part of the Executive Leadership team, you will be responsible for the collective strategic direction of Council.
