About the Opportunity

Council has an exciting opportunity for a Customer Service Officer within the Cabonne Infrastructure team in Cudal.

This position reports to the Executive Assistant to the Deputy General Manager Infrastructure and is the frontline customer engagement point of contact both via the front counter and over the phone for Council’s Cudal Office.

This position will also ensure the delivery of high quality customer service to the community and customers of Council and to promote a positive customer service oriented image for Cabonne Council.

Working in a small team, and lead by a supportive and proactive leadership team, you will be provided with support and training in line with Council's values to learn the role and ensure our workers are resilient, adaptive and are able to perform to Council and community expectations.

The operation does not require shift work or rotational rostering, instead working Monday to Friday and providing flexibility for the perfect work/life balance. The position operates over a 35 hour week with a 9 day fortnight.

An overview of the position's activities and responsibilities is provided below.  

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Promptly and courteously answer incoming calls and front counter enquiries providing information and following matters through to a resolution where possible and/or redirecting calls/enquires to the appropriate Council staff member.
  • Effectively perform general office and administration duties at times including requested tasks for Infrastructure staff which may include:
  • data entry,
  • electronic document/records management,
  • preparation/drafting of communication material/correspondence/reports,
  • photocopying,
  • binding of documents,
  • and updating and maintaining foyer material.
  • Accurately perform cashiering duties including accepting and receipt monies, carry out end of day and end of month balances and summaries and assist with the preparation and processing of bank deposits.
  • Accurately undertake Credit Union Customer Service tasks including withdrawals and receipting.
  • Efficiently and effectively undertake tender and project documentation preparation and follow up including utilisation of Tenderlink.
  • Ensure customer service requests are followed through and the actions and outcomes are adequately documented with electronic notes within Council’s records system.
  • Answer basic development application enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Efficiently administer venue bookings for councils sports grounds, hall hire, meeting rooms and street stalls

So what do you need to be successful?

  • Previous experience in customer service and administration.
  • Proven ability to collect, receipt and balance monies on a daily basis.
  • Proven ability in satisfying Customer inquiries including the ability to receive and communicate information accurately and effectively with a high level knowledge of council’s functions and activities.
  • Ability to project & promote a positive image of Council.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to resolve conflict.
  • Ability to multi-task with phone calls while processing and managing your workload.
  • Ability to draft correspondence, minutes and produce reports with a high attention to detail.
  • Above average computer skills including Microsoft office programs.
  • Current Class C NSW drivers licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business administration would be highly regarded.

Other details relating to this position are:

Salary $993.70 - $1127.80 gross per week, depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation.

This position operates under a 9 day fortnight arrangement.

The position is graded 4-5 in Council's salary system.

Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award 2020.
