Contract Compliance Specialist

A fantastic opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Contract Compliance Specialist to join our Capital Works team.

This position is responsible for ensuring external contractor’s working on behalf of Mackay Regional Council comply fully with construction compliance obligations and requirements including but not limited to, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management. The successful candidate will use their technical expertise to provide input into constructability reviews and assist Contracts Project Managers with information and guidance regarding enquires of a construction nature and in the verification of Contractor claims.

Suitable applicants should possess the following:

• Tertiary qualifications (Cert III trade qualification up to and including Degree) in a related field such as construction, plumbing, drainage, building and water.
• Current C Class QLD Driver’s licence.
• Construction White Card.
• Candidates who hold formal training in Quality Assurance will be highly regarded.
• Substantial experience in broad contracting and construction environment involved with public utilities projects with a civil, roads and/or water industry emphasis.
• Experience in construction supervision, inspection and monitoring, record keeping and quality management document control.
• Strong ability to read, interpret, understand construction drawings, specifications, construction management plans and prepare inspection test plans (ITP) for construction work practices.
• Strong skills in the areas of quality control, workplace health and safety and environmental compliance.
• Strong ability to deal with difficult situations, clearly articulate issues, negotiate outcomes and resolve problems, with an attitude to take personal responsibility for promptly handling and resolving workplace tasks.

• Base annual salary from $84,513 plus allowances as applicable
