About the role

The Manager Community Safety and Amenity plays a key role in demonstrating leadership and managing change that drives the delivery of customer focused, timely and professional regulatory services with a strong culture of staff and community engagement and continuous improvement and innovation.

Purpose and objectives

The key purpose of the Community Safety and Amenity Department is to deliver industry-leading, modern regulatory services that are customer focused and take a risk-based approach, with the aim to build community awareness and education to achieve compliance.

The Manager Community Safety and Amenity plays a key role in demonstrating leadership that drives the delivery of customer focused, timely and professional regulatory services with a strong culture of staff and community engagement and continuous improvement and innovation. In particular, the objectives for this position include:

  • Delivery of industry-leading, modern regulatory services that are customer focused and take a risk-based approach, with the aim to build community awareness and education to achieve compliance, whilst also meeting Council's statutory obligations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the strategic direction of the department and its services and programs through service and business planning that address current and future community needs along with contributing to broader Council policy initiatives and thinking regarding community safety, amenity and regulation.
  • Management of a range of regulatory activities, issues and support services that meet Council and Community expectations, that address operational demands with a focus on effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Managing, leading and empowering hybrid teams to deliver community programs and services in line with the Council Plan, Community Vision, and other relevant strategic plans and policies

Who are we looking for?

You will be an experienced people leader with substantial experience who is committed to leading, managing, and developing multi-disciplinary teams.

You will have an inclusive, collaborative approach and your experience will have seen you manage a team to successfully deliver services to the community, whilst also delivering projects on time and within budget, with a focus on developing people, customer satisfaction and quality outcomes.
