The Opportunity

Positioned within Council’s Community Development department, this role will see you working with the team in supporting the coordination of the Women-Led Careers Project. The project works with women from migrant and refugee backgrounds to co-design a series of workshops and training modules that will develop industry knowledge and networks towards career goals. You will report to and assist the Project Manager in supporting program implementation, community engagement and participation.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate a range of quality workshops and events that support the career goals of women;
  • Advocacy and engagement of the community; in particular women from migrant and refugee backgrounds;
  • Support the development, implementation and evaluation of career support programs;
  • Provide on-going support of participants through feedback and coaching; and,
  • Support strategic partnerships across Council, key service partners and providers, and the local community.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant qualification in community development, community services or related field with lesser experience, or proven work experience in community engagement and/or community development;
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of strength-based programs targeting women;
  • Cultural knowledge or lived experience of structural disadvantage to facilitate mutual understanding between communities, services and agencies;
  • Effective cross-cultural communication skills including interpersonal, consultation and presentation skills; and,
  • Current Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain.
