The Opportunity

This leadership position will see you coordinating the Women Led Careers Project and working with local women from migrant and refugee backgrounds to co-design a series of workshops and training modules to improve industry knowledge and networks and to develop and pursue participants’ career goals. You will proactively lead the project and liaise with the funding body, partners and other stakeholders including local communities, particularly residents of the Flemington and Ascot Vale housing estates.

Responsibilities

  • Project lead and coordination to ensure the quality management of operational resources, program development and delivery;
  • Advocacy and engagement of the community; in particular women from migrant and refugee backgrounds;
  • Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of career support programs;
  • Provide on-going support and supervision of staff through feedback and coaching; and,
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships across Council, the community, key service providers, government agencies and the local community.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and significant previous community engagement experience and knowledge of best practice community engagement principles and practice;
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising staff within a community engagement framework;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships;
  • Ability to understand and identify a range of client needs using a client-centred approach; capacity to deal sensitively and intelligently with difficult issues;
  • Proven experience engaging and communicating with diverse groups of people and specific cohorts;
  • Current Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain and current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
