We are looking for a dedicated Council Works Team Leader to join our team and help ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our assets and facilities. You will primarily be working out of Kalkarindji, NT (5 hours from Katherine) and be required to travel and perform maintenance work in Daguragu, NT.

Your chance to work with us

Reporting to the Council Services Manager, your key responsibility will be to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of recreational, parks, streets, gardens, facilities and operations of minor civil works are met.

Core duties:

  • Supervising day-to-day operations;
  • Develop, implement and monitor work plans;
  • Manage and oversee construction, maintenance and delivery of minor civil works; and
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Council.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the delivery of Waste Management services, including domestic and commercial collections, ensuring that the management of the landfill site within the Community is in line with Council’s standards.

Our next superstar

To succeed, you will have extensive experience in a similar role, such as traffic management and maintenance. It is ideal that you also have previous experience working in a remote location or with Aboriginal communities. An MR License is also a requirement.

More importantly, you will have previous experience in various gardening practices such as ground maintenance, landscaping, mowing, grass care, weed control and other parks and gardens functions.

Although not essential, a Chemical Handling Certificate, a White Card, a First Aid Certificate and a Tertiary qualification or a certificate in Parks & Gardens is highly desirable.

You will be a skilled individual who can effectively lead and develop a team while also working autonomously. As such, you will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate across various levels within Victoria Daly Regional Council.

As you will be working with a wide range of stakeholders, you will be a good listener and follow the Council’s processes and procedures. Moreover, you will be an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who can work and thrive within a local community.

Please Note: A current Driver's Licence and a criminal history check will be required before commencing this role. Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
