The Shire of Chittering is classified as a small local government located on the fringe of the Perth Metropolitan area. Chittering is one of the fastest growing areas in the Wheatbelt region and we are looking for purposeful outcomes on change management for service delivery that benefits the community and ratepayers in our transition during this period of growth. The Chittering area is known for its friendly community, natural recreational opportunities, picturesque countryside, local produce and wine. All ideally placed within an hour’s drive of Perth, with new major transport infrastructure set to make it quicker and easier than ever to access from the metropolitan area. Our Technical Services team oversees and services the Shire’s roads, parks, landscapes, reserves, infrastructures and fleet management, in addition to communication, policy, strategy and leadership for a number of projects that contribute to the sustainable growth in our area. Working at the Shire of Chittering will provide the opportunities to be involved in a wide variety of activities and projects contributing a range of diverse skills, experience and capabilities. The Shire is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Executive Manager, with excellent leadership and communication skills. The preferred will have an authentic commitment to continuous improvement and a minimum of two years’ experience in local government management, or equivalent experience in the private or public sectors with a comprehensive understanding of Local Government process and procedures. A recognised qualification in Engineering/Technical fields, or a related discipline is highly desirable. This position is offered as a three year performance based contract with the opportunity for renewal, a cash salary of up to $125,000 per annum (pro rata), working a nine day fortnight with additional superannuation of up to 15% as per Council policy and cash-based vehicle allowance. In addition, subsidised housing and relocation expenses may be negotiated with the successful applicant. All applicants must have an unrestricted “C” class licence, the right to work in Australia and ability to provide a National Police Clearance.
