We're known for our lush green spaces like Queens Park, our long summer daylight hours and our local legend Burt Munro.

Our city has character, charm and a laidback atmosphere. There's outstanding nature reserves, Ōreti Beach, the Waihōpai River, a lively restaurant scene and a sensible gridded layout with wide streets and a 10-minute drive to work.

We are in a chapter of immense growth, building a vibrant city centre and reinvigorating our culture and spaces, and this is an exciting time to join a Council that is focused on the future of our people and our city.

Reporting to the Manager - Strategic Asset Planning, this new role will develop and implement the transport asset and activity management plans to provide best practice of Invercargill's transport assets while ensuring the plans are aligned with Invercargill City Council's strategic direction.

Key responsibilities include to:

  • Develop and maintain best practice asset and activity management solutions for transport assets in accordance with NAMS, IPWEA International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM) and other New Zealand Standards.
  • Supervise, coach and motivate team members,
  • Deliver a programme of works for transport, including asset investigations and renewals, that supports strategically aligned asset management plans.
  • Identify and develop renewal and capital development programmes necessary through asset condition assessments and other prioritisation asset renewal principles.
  • Act as Council's in-house technical expert on transport asset management. Ensure all asset data information including whole of life costing is captured, maintained, improved and analysed.

At Invercargill City Council we pride ourselves on our values - positivity, respect, responsibility and above and beyond. Finding the right fit for our team is really important to us and we work hard to provide an environment reflective of these values.

To be successful in the role you will need to have:
