Mackay Regional Council is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Branch Supervisor to join our Libraries Operations Team. This role is temporary 12-month contract working part-time hours (approx. 18/week) based at the Sarina Library.

The team you will join holds a solid reputation and proven track record across our organisation and is an integral to ensure we are able to deliver valuable outcomes for Council and the Community.

About you

No two days are the same in our dynamic library team, and the Sarina Branch Supervisor is an essential part of ensuring that our regional community has access to reliable and up to date library and information services.

You will be passionate about engaging with people and working in regional communities. A love of program development and delivery and meeting new customers is a must! You will be equally comfortable working in both Front and Back of House.

Previous experience in Library Services coupled with an openness to learn new things, and relevant Library and Information Services qualifications are essential. You are someone who enjoys working with people, can juggle competing priorities and loves a challenge!

About the opportunity:

Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the library and the provision of efficient and reliable library and information services to the Mackay community, specifically Sarina community.

Supervise circulation desk and undertake all associated duties and responsibilities for Front of House and Back of House services, including but not limited to, greeting clients, sign-in procedures, resolution of issues and completion of returns, reservations, membership, shelving etc. Receipt money from clients for a range of Library payments.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

• Experience and expertise attained through previous appointments and service, to undertake the range of activities required as a Branch Supervisor.
• Qualifications (Certificate III and above) in Library and Information Services or other relevant qualification.
• Current QLD “C” Class drivers licence or interstate equivalent.
• Blue Card - It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy. Days of work are currently Wednesday, Thursday Friday with Alternate Saturdays.
