About the role Following an internal staff promotion we have an opening for a Principal Strategic Planner to join our collaborative and dedicated team. Reporting to the Coordinator Strategic Planning, your expertise will be utilised to lead major strategic planning projects and aid in the development of polices and the strategic direction of the municipality. Along with preparing planning amendments, submissions and reports the role identifies, develops and implements key process and system improvements to enhance service delivery. As a leader in your field, you will take on a rewarding mentoring role to coach, guide and inspire others. The role is pivotal to ensuring a high level of skill across the department and providing direction with respect to resolution of key service issues. There is a focus on driving strong customer satisfaction - engaging, consulting and delivering to all stakeholders in an accurate and timely manner. You have extensive experience in the development of planning polices, strategies and initiatives. You bring ability and experience in analysing and proactively improving systems and processes from within a planning environment. With your conceptual and lateral thinking you develop integrated, creative solutions to achieve project outcomes. Communication is a strength and you can liaise and collaborate with multi-disciplinary staff, management and key stakeholders to achieve strategic goals in a complex and political environment. You will work with your team to achieve big things and contribute to the capability uplift of the department. A tertiary qualification in town planning or a related discipline is required.
