Division: Planning, Environment and Urban Services About Strathfield We are a centrally located Council in Sydney’s inner-west, half way between the Parramatta and Sydney CBD. Strathfield’s Local Government Area is a culturally diverse area with a mix of land uses, ranging from high density residential development along Parramatta Road, leafy low density residential neighbourhoods with heritage and streetscape character, a range of educational facilities and industrial and urban services land. About the Opportunity Strathfield Council is seeking a suitably qualified Strategic Planner with a key interest and specialty within Heritage and Urban Design to join our Planning and Development Team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Executive Manager Land Use Planning, you will provide advice to strategic and statutory planning on matters regarding Urban Design and matters affecting heritage items or conservation areas. You will be supported by an integrated team of multi-skilled planners and administration staff, working together towards a common goal to achieve specific outcomes identified in Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement, Community Strategic Plan and Delivery Program. Selection Criteria You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment which will both challenge and fine-tune your skills as a Strategic Planner. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to work seamlessly within a team and feel a sense of reward and ownership within your role. You will have a recognised degree in Architecture, Urban Design or Town Planning with specialisation in Heritage Conservation Management combined with relevant working experience which you can apply to this role. You will also have sound knowledge of the NSW Environmental Planning and Heritage Legislation, and Council and Statutory requirements in planning processes. All applicants will need to possess a current Class ‘C’ NSW Driver’s License Salary and Conditions: The salary range for this position is $92,600 to $106,600. + Super, dependent upon the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
