Our Parks and Recreation department is looking for a Senior Parks Ranger to work in Invercargill's fantastic parks and reserves. The Senior Parks Ranger is responsible for championing the protection of the Council's Parks and Reserves and natural environmental areas. This includes working within the team of Park Ranger's responsible for maintaining standards and service levels of Parks Performance, general patrolling and maintenance of the parks and reserves.

We require a person to inspect and maintain facilities and tracks, prevent and minimise damage to the environment including pest control, provide visitors with information and assistance during regular patrols, deal with day-to-day queries and see to the general tidiness of our parks and reserves. While interacting with the public your tact and patience will be invaluable. Educating and engaging the public is another exciting aspect of this role that will bring out your excellent communication skills. When called on, you will provide advice or guidance to members of the team under the direction of the Team Leader.

Experience and a recognised formal qualification in Parks/Recreation or similar would be an advantage. We also require you to have a full NZ driver's licence.

As our Parks are open 7 days a week, this is a full-time role which requires working rotating weekends. You'll be physically fit with a great work ethic and sound commitment to "getting the job done".
