About the role  

This role sits in the Smart City and Innovation team as part of the Customer & Business Transformation division which is focused on delivering value to our community through partnering with the business to achieve great performance outcomes.  

The role will build the innovation capability and advocacy within employees at the City of Casey through programs, events and innovation sprints in the newly formed Living Lab. 

The role will work closely with the broader Smart City and Innovation team and partner on initiatives to test and experiment with concepts including the circular economy, digital equity, internet of things, artificial intelligence and new service models.  

Responsibilities of this role include 

  • Manage experimentation projects that test and trial new concepts using smart technology, data and service innovation ensuring strong evaluation for scale up roadmaps. 

  • Organise and facilitate innovation programs and collaboration events/pitch festivals with internal teams and external partners where required to showcase innovation. 

  • Build relationships with teams across the City of Casey and in the sector to drive innovation activities and test new business models. 

  • Identify emerging innovation opportunities, build a pipeline of initiatives and bring together relevant stakeholders to evaluate and prioritise initiatives. 

  • Proactively and positively deliver programs,workshops and toolkits to develop innovation capability including design thinking, critical thinking, systems thinking and data analysis. 

 About you  

  • Qualifications in business, innovation, Human Centered Design, Information Technology or significant experience in an innovation role. 

  • Demonstrated project management capabilities with strong coordination skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise multiple competing priorities. 

  • Independent and outcome focused with an ability to efficiently and effectively manage workload and tasks. 

  • Strong communication, engagement and co-design skills with experience in partnership management. 

  • Political savvy with experience in managing numerous key stakeholders and/or prioritising multiple competing priorities. 

  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including: National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check
