  • Permanent full-time roles based at our South Melbourne Depot
  • Salary Range - $68,450 - $72,480 (Annualised salary Inc. allowances & leave loading) plus 9.5% Superannuation
  • Hours of Work Mon–Fri, 6.00am - 3.00pm, Weekend and Public Holiday rostered work required.

About the Role

Our Street and Beach Services team seeks an energetic team player who has a strong customer service approach and communication skills to deliver quality services to the community with a focus on environmental outcomes. The successful candidate will support the Supervisors Street and Beach Services to deliver the ongoing cleaning program of the city's streets, commercial areas and beaches. The sweeper operator will be directly responsible for maintaining high standards of service to the community, complaint management, customer service ensuring performance standards are achieved. 

Proven experience within a similar role with experience in operating a number of sweeper models, together with knowledge of OHS legislative requirements will be necessary in this role. Weekend and public holiday work will be required on a roster basis. The candidates will be required to have a multi skill mindset being able to move between equipment operations and labouring roles.

Duties: 

  • Follow the daily schedule and ensure that all the day’s work is completed to comply with “Best Value” specifications
  • Ensure customer requests are responded to in a timely and effective manner and that street and beach cleaning operations are completed efficiently to enable a high-quality outcome for the community
  • Extensive experience completing mechanical checks required for maintenance and pre-start safety checks of all equipment under the operators’ control.
  • Clean and maintain the vehicle and follow all plant maintenance and reporting procedures 

Skills and Experience 

  • Proven experience in the labouring/cleaning industry
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety policies, systems and procedures
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in the operations of several street sweeping makes and models including labouring duties
  • Victorian endorsed truck and car licences,
  • Extensive experience completing mechanical checks, proven mechanical aptitude is essential to undertake pre-start safety checks of all equipment under the operators’ control
  • Experience in operation of Street Sweepers in an Urban street environment   

Mandatory Requirements

  • Pre employment medical check and Functional Capability Evaluation
  • Victorian Driver Licence, Medium Rigid Vehicle Licence and Vic Roads Verification
  • Experience in operation different makes and models of Street Sweepers in an Urban street environment
