It's a very exciting time to be in Invercargill - if you're not here already, come and join us in Alert Level 2! Waihōpai Invercargill is New Zealand's southernmost city and the heart and hub of Southland. We're known for our lush green spaces like Queens Park, our long summer daylight hours and our local legend Burt Munro. Our city has character, charm and a laidback atmosphere. There's outstanding nature reserves, Ōreti Beach, the Waihōpai River, a lively restaurant scene and a sensible gridded layout with wide streets and a 10-minute drive to work. We are in a chapter of immense growth, building a vibrant city centre and reinvigorating our culture and spaces, and this is an exciting time to join a Council that is focused on the future of our people and our city. Reporting to the Manager - People and Capability, this is a fast-paced and exciting position that will provide an internal consultancy service that delivers best practice and outcome-focused HR solutions to our Leisure and Recreation Group. This Group has over 170 staff and covers our Aquatics, Library, Museum, Venues and award-winning Parks teams. You will work in partnership with the wider People and Capability team to provide specialist coaching, support and influence that will enable the delivery of our people plans across a key area undergoing a significant period of change. As a true Business Partner, you will enjoy a very varied role and a wide range of interactions on a daily basis at all levels across the organisation, with the added opportunity of being able to work on exciting HR projects. Ideally, with a Human Resources qualification or significant experience including previous experience across the full ambit of the HR function, your excellent communication, consultation and motivational skills will drive employee engagement, manage change and ensure that the organisation continues to attract and retain high calibre employees. You will have demonstrable skills in effectively challenging and influencing across an organisation, as well as proven flexibility, diplomacy and assertiveness. A positive, team-focused, can-do attitude is always a welcome attribute for any employee within our organisation. All good reasons why working for ICC is a great career and lifestyle choice. At Invercargill City Council we pride ourselves on our values - positivity, respect, responsibility and above and beyond. Finding the right fit for our team is really important to us and we work hard to provide an environment reflective of these values.
