The Shire of Ashburton serves communities across a vast region in the Pilbara, Western Australia. The region is known for mining, agriculture and fishing, and for its rugged, ancient landscape. Tom Price is WA’s highest town, located right on the edge of the state’s second largest national park, Karijini.

About the Position

Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Services, this position is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery and review of the Shire’s asset management plans including the management of asset data and systems for all the Shire’s infrastructure and community assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of 10 year capital investment programs for all asset classes and for high level programming of the annual capital works program as well as for financial reporting associated with State and Federal road grants and disaster related funding.

Our ideal candidate will be highly capable in Project Management with previous hands-on experience in Asset Management, a sound working knowledge of asset management principles and processes and well developed management, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. They will be able to effectively analyse complex problems and present simple, well-articulated options and recommendations for moving forward. As the position will require constant liaison with staff throughout the organisation and at all levels, the ability to get on well with people at all levels and to work effectively as part of a team is essential.

The role also involves managing a small team of asset management specialists and consultants in the continual development of the Shire’s asset management strategies and plans.
