Council is seeking a Statutory Planner to provide quality specialist services, guidance and advice in all facets of statutory planning, subdivision control and other services provided by the Statutory Planning Department.

Key Responsibilities

Consider and process minor to mid-range complexity development and use, signage, variation / removal of restrictive covenant and easement planning applications in accordance with relevant legislative planning scheme and policy requirements.

  • Assist in the preparation of submissions by Council in defending its decisions before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
  • Respond in a courteous and professional manner to public counter, written and telephone enquirers by providing accurate planning advice regarding Council’s planning responsibilities and policies.
  • Apply town planning knowledge and identify appropriate methods and techniques to solve problems and satisfactorily complete tasks in conjunction with the Manager Planning and Building, Senior Coordinator Statutory Planning or Coordinator Statutory Planning.

About you

To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or related discipline is essential;
  • Some relevant experience in Statutory Planning desirable;
  • Some knowledge of processes, planning schemes, planning legislation and other applicable legislation such as for Liquor Licenses and Subdivisions;
  • Effective presentation skills and;
  • The ability to provide prompt, accurate, courteous and consistent customer services.
