Strategically situated, Moree Plains Shire Council is located on the New South Wales and Queensland border, is one of the largest Local Government areas in the State with an area of approximately 17,930 square kilometres. Also known as the Artesian Capital of Australia, the township of Moree is a regional centre with daily air and rail links to Sydney.  It is widely recognised that Moree Plains is the most productive agricultural shire in Australia; however, this in itself presents challenges in providing adequate infrastructure. What is possibly not as widely known is that Moree Plains Shire is also a very culturally diverse community. The Shire boasts a large indigenous population and the Council is committed to continue to lead the way in reconciliation.

Taking on a new strategic direction aligned with Councils vision, purpose and values, the opportunity now exists for talented, versatile and progressive leader to join Council in driving the future success of council and the community. As part of the Executive Leadership team you will be pivotal in leading Council through this transformational period.

Reporting directly to the General Manager the position will require significant experience in leading change at a senior management level. You will be able to demonstrate genuine leadership qualities, strategic management capabilities and an ability to create a values-based culture. You will also have a demonstrated capacity to build effective and productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. As part of the Executive Leadership team, you will be responsible for the collective strategic direction of Council.
