We're excited to announce, a newly created position for an experienced Project Officer to support the Wimmera Emergency Management Resource sharing program is now open for applications!

We have an exciting full-time opportunity for an energetic and ambitious Project Officer to join our team of experts to deliver on the state-funded Wimmera Emergency Resource Sharing Program.

Reporting to the Emergency Management Coordinator, you will work across four dynamic councils: Hindmarsh, West Wimmera, and Yarriambiack Shire, and Horsham Rural City Council to provide advice and maximise community participation in determining their emergency preparedness needs.

You will assist in the development and enhancement of the Wimmera Emergency Management obligations under the Emergency Management Act 2013 and administer some aspects of the program on behalf of the Co-ordinator. The aim of the project officer is to assist in the development and implementation of emergency management plans, documentation and associated arrangements across the four participant councils

  • Review all Emergency Management arrangements across all four municipalities, and identify any gaps in those arrangements and develop appropriate plans
  • Work collaboratively with community groups, including Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities
  • Engage with internal and external partners including council staff and emergency management agencies

Who are we looking for?

Experience in consulting and engaging with people from diverse backgrounds paired with your formal qualification within community engagement or risk management/ emergency management will serve you well. Ideally if you have experience in strategic planning as well as knowledge of emergency management concepts, legislation, policy and procedures especially in relation to Victoria, then we would love to hear from you! But if not, that is ok as we have the resource to help upskill in those areas.
