About the opportunity

The Roads Design Team Leader position is a newly designed role which will be responsible for leading the Roads Design team.

As the lead of this position you will aim to achieve a variety of objectives which contribute to a safe, effective and efficient road network and healthy community. You will be accountable for coordinating supervision and performance management, mentor/development of team members and responsible for overall team performance. The Team Leader will also be required to ensure civil road designs are completed in accordance with professional engineering standards as well as authorise civil road designs for construction. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Demonstrated in-depth experience in civil road engineering with the understanding of quality design outcomes that address multiple objectives such as, and not limited to, improved amenity, urban heat and safety
  • Demonstrated in-depth experience in leading and managing design teams to ensure effective and timely delivery of project and program activities
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and experience in GIS packages, Microsoft Office applications and extensive experience in design and drafting software packages
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth project management skills
  • Engineers Australia Chartered Engineer qualification and National Engineering Registration
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations
  • Current Class ‘C’ driver’s licence.

Desirable

  • Experience in managing financial budgets with inclusion of forecasting
  • Experience in drainage software packages
  • Experience in TRIM and Technology One.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • A competitive salary range of $2,008.70 - $2,249.70 (Grade 18) per week will be offered based on skills, qualifications and experience
  • 35 hour working week
  • Car allowance
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
