The Role

The Corporate Information Management School Based Trainee is responsible for contributing to the delivery of a high standard of Information Management services to Canterbury Bankstown Council. 

You will be working within the Corporate Information Management Team, the role of the Trainee is to develop professional Information Management skills and knowledge by assisting and supporting the Team in the provision of services to ensure the ongoing efficiency and effectiveness of the mailroom, records management functions while providing the highest levels of customer service. 

The successful applicant must be able to function as an active member of the Corporate Information Management Team who provide an effective and timely service to Council and its Customers.

This opportunity would be offered as a temporary 2 year contract and would suit a  high school student

Some of your duties will include:

  • Sort and scan incoming (hard-copy) mail for registration into the corporate recordkeeping system.
  • Register electronic correspondence (email and scanned documents) into the corporate recordkeeping system and workflow to relevant staff members.
  • Liaise with internal customers about the status of records and correspondence and other inquiries, as required.
  • Scan plans and other documents of various sizes.
  • Undertake a variety of work within the multi-skilled team environment.
  • Conduct information searches for other internal staff.
  • Participate in on-going training and development.

You will have:

  • Willingness to study for required qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise tasks and achieve deadlines whilst maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Basic level of computer skills in applications such as Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Ability to work without supervision and to be self-motivated.
  • Ability to efficiently allocate cognitive resources to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines.
  • Competency to work with attention to detail

The salary range for this opportunity commences at $610.60 (pro rata) Per week (Grade T3) + 10% super
