Summer Graduates - Three Waters OperationsThe Three Waters & Waste Unit provides drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services to over 385,000 people in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula. Our vision is to manage water and waste to sustain life and protect our environment. To assist us in achieving our strategic priority of community outcome of healthy environments, we have four vacancies for Graduate positions for the university summer break. These four positions are based at the Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bromley. Overview of the Activities; Whilst all three positions relate to water and environmental improvement, they require different skills sets and areas of interest; Entomology (study of insects) - Help us continue to reduce the impact that midges from the oxidation ponds have on our adjacent neighbours. This predominantly outdoor based position would suit those who are very hands-on, practical, not afraid to get a bit dirty and any boating experience would be beneficial Carbon & Energy - Help us reduce the carbon footprint of the Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant, by using our new state of the art gas chromatograph to measure and quantify our nitrous oxide and methane emissions. This laboratory & field-based position would suit those with an interest in chemistry, complex laboratory equipment and being meticulous. Environmental & Quality Management Systems - Helps us enhance our Environmental & Quality Management Systems (ISO9001/14001), by assisting with the preparation of processes, procedures & undertaking audits. This predominantly office based position would suit those who have a passion for structured processes, documentation preparation and a good eye for detail. Health & Safety The Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant is a 24/7 operational facility and as such has a number of risks and hazards. Inductions, appropriate training supervision and PPE will be given. Inoculations will also be required for some of the roles. Who are we looking for?
