BUILDING DEVELOPMENT CERTIFIER


Are you an accredited building certifier and looking for an exciting new challenge?

We are looking for an experienced Building Development Certifier to join our awesome Development & Certification team.  You will be part of a professional, dedicated team facilitating all building survey activities for Council and your "office" will range from beautiful coastal villages and country towns to vast fertile farm lands. We are a small but mighty Council with good connections to the community, we aim at getting the best outcomes for all.

We are looking for

A motivated go-getter, who is confident to work autonomously but also understands the importance of team work. You have excellent stakeholder management skills and a good understanding of customer needs achieved through your effective interpersonal communication skills. You have plenty of experience working on all kinds of inspections and are open to sharing those skills with others in the team.

 

We are seeking someone who has the following technical abilities:

  • Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline, and Building Surveyor accreditation (or eligible for accreditation) under the Building Professionals Act at the level of A3 or higher

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Building Code of Australia, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Regulation, and other associated codes and policies and their interpretation and application in a working environment

  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and presentation of technical reports and submissions

  • SafeWork Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card)

  • Current Class C Driver Licence

Full time: 70 hour fortnight with opportunity for flexible work arrangements

Salary: Range from $73,918 to $94,322 pa + 10% super

The primary purpose of the role is to provide  building control in accordance with statutory requirements, policy and procedure to deliver the expectations of the community identified in Council’s Community Strategic Plan.

This includes:

  • Completing inspections and written reports with the effective implementation of statutes and Council policies with regard to the matter of development assessment

  • Enforcement of compliance with Development Consents/Construction Certificates and suggesting appropriate legal remedies

  • Preparation of reports in regard to Notice of Intent and Orders and follow through as determined

  • Participation on Council's Development Assessment Panel in the assessment of development related applications
