Centre Coordinator

ABOUT US

Cobar is a rural mining community located in western New South Wales, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city living. Council owns and operates the Cobar Shire & TAFE Library, Great Cobar Heritage Centre, Lilliane Brady Village (aged care facility), Children's Services, Youth & Fitness Centre as well as works depots in Euabalong and Cobar.

Our core values - Accountability, Communication, Effective Leadership, Integrity and Teamwork (ACE IT) represent who we are as an organisation. They are the agreed guiding principles for how we carry out our duties and interact with our community.

Kubby House Childcare Centre is a 31-place service and is the only long day care provider in town. Council has recently been awarded funding to build a brand new Early Learning Centre (ELC) to meet the growing needs of our community, which has been architecturally designed specifically to exceed best practice industry standards. Our new centre is expected to be 'open for business' in January 2023, with the capacity to accommodate up to 88 children.

ABOUT YOU

Are you looking for a change? Have you considered a tree change in rural New South Wales?

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and confident leader to develop and coordinate the delivery of outstanding education and care for the children of the Kubby House Childcare Centre, transferring staff and children across to our new ELC when it opens. Your previous experience managing a long day care centre combined with your in-depth knowledge of the national quality framework and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders will see you succeed in this role.

Our ideal candidate will be ECT qualified and passionate about early childhood education, with a positive and professional, lead by example attitude towards managing people.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Business Operations Manager for children's services, this role is responsible for the operational management and overall performance of the long day care centre, ensuring the service operates efficiently, cost effectively and in accordance with the required standards, legislation and regulations.

The Centre Coordinator will foster a high-performance team culture whilst providing the support, coaching and quality mentoring for educators to deliver innovative educational programs in an inclusive environment for our children and their families.

Recognising the future growth of the service, this position has been classified to include a salary range of $86,000 - $100,000 (dependent on skills, experience and qualifications) plus superannuation and relocation assistance. Employment terms and conditions will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, working a 9-day fortnight, 35 hours a week.

Applicants must address the selection criteria in the position description and provide a covering letter and current resume.

Applications close Monday 11 October 2021.

Shortlisted candidates must undergo a national police check and a pre employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.

Cobar Shire Council welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, workers of all ages, people with disabilities and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
