About the role:
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Leading Hand to join our Civil Operations team, based at Paget Depot. This position is permanent full-time position with a 9-day fortnight roster. Be home with your family every night and gain the work/life balance and job security you've been searching for.The RoleIn this role, you will be responsible for the daily supervision of a small – medium work crew based out of the Paget Depot. You will be required to plan, organise and coordinate staff and will take a lead role in both health and safety and practical job training. You will provide a high standard of maintenance/construction expertise and you will present a positive image of Council’s workforce through positive client and community interactions.To be successful in this role, you will have:• Certificate III in Civil Construction• Current QLD ‘C‘ Class Open Drivers Licence• Current General Construction Safety White Card• Current Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) qualifications• Experience in successfully leading, supervising and motivating teams• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings• High level of client service paired with good oral and written communication skills• Extensive experience in construction/maintenance of roads and drainage infrastructure• Plant Operation Certificates of Competencies e.g. Roller, Loader, Backhoe, Grader will be highly regarded• Current QLD Heavy Rigid ‘HR’ Class Licence will be highly regardedSalary & Benefits Package:• Annual base salary from $53,195 plus allowances as applicable• Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply)• Choice of 4 or 5 weeks’ annual leave with 17.5% leave loading• 9 day fortnight roster• May be eligible for salary sacrificing options• Membership to lifestyle benefits program including corporate discounts• Study and assistance programs for career development• Learning and development opportunities• Employee Assistance Program• Employee health and wellbeing initiatives• Active social clubsFor a secure, satisfying career opportunity coupled with a relaxed lifestyle, Mackay Regional Council is the place to be!Interested?To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume and a brief response to the selection criteria.
