Canterbury/Bankstown Council have just undertaken a major re-structure within the City Assets department and we are seeking a keen and motivated individual to join the Asset Systems and Planning team as a Coordinator Asset Planning- Open Space and Buildings.

The Role;

Lead a team to manage the rolling Capital Works Program through the Project Management Office and Framework.

The starting Salary for this role is $117,791 (Grade K, Step 1) + 10% Super + Vehicle Allowance.  

The main duties for this role will include;

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Council's Capital Works Program, Operational Plan and the Unit Plan, participating in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Investigate requests relating to Open Space and Buildings assets, provide responses and make recommendations to include in future works programs or request maintenance works as necessary
  • Coordinate investigations for yearly Capital Works Programs ensuring timely project initiation, investigation and scoping to meet annual programming timelines 
  • Carry out asset data collections, condition rating, prioritisation and modelling as required
  • Coordinate programming of project delivery with other asset coordinators/team leaders to avoid conflicts and also gain cost savings
  • Undertake approval of draft preliminary and final construction drawings provided by the Works & Projects Unit ensuring the scope of works is achieved and budgets are met
  • Monitor and update progress of the delivery of related asset categories
  • Drive performance of the multidisciplinary teams to achieve fulfilling of objectives by agreed deadlines and to high quality standards

Essential Qualifications and Experience for this role;

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Current Class C drivers licence
  • WH&S Construction Induction White Card
  • Demonstrated experience in the investigation, strategic planning, design, construction and maintenance of Open Space and Buildings Assets
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of budgets, construction plans, specifications, BoQs and contracts
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in local government engineering including civil engineering design, construction, maintenance and aspects of land development in relation to Buildings and Open Space Assets 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, motivating and coordinating a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts; AustRoads Guides and Codes/Guidelines for Open Space Facilities and Buildings
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and prioritise asset needs within a strategic planning environment 
  • Demonstrated high level of understanding of asset management in relation to local government infrastructure 
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrated well-developed computer skills in Microsoft Office application
