The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role
The role supports the Coordinator Local Laws & Animal Management by leading the Local Laws team to fulfil the patrolling, enforcement and prosecution responsibilities as required by the City of Port Phillip’s Community Amenity Local Law No.1 and other relevant legislation.
Duties:
Lead, develop and motivate the Local Laws Team
Manage prosecution activity related to enforcement of the Community Amenity Local Law
Prepare reports for the Coordinator and Leadership teams as required
Provide specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders
Ensure proactive and reactive monitoring of all cases
Maintain and improve work procedures and systems
Skills and Experience
Experience in investigation, evidence collection and prosecution in legal forums
Ability to determine critical issues and actively pursue matters to a conclusion
Effective letter and report writing and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of relevant legislations
Effective conflict resolution, mediation, negotiation and assertion skills
