Swim Teacher

Permanent part-time - Two vacancies

Are you a keen swimmer? Do you want to spend every day at work doing what you love and making a difference in your community?

Did you know that you can turn that passion into not just a job, but a rewarding long-term career?

Splash Palace has the opportunity for you to do just that. As one of our Swim Teachers, you'll teach the vital life skill of swimming and water safety to customers of all ages - from infants to kids, to adults.

We have two permanent part-time roles available right now, but we have development opportunities galore, so bring your passion and drive, and watch just how far you can go! Hours are rostered on a programme-by-programme basis, which will include split shifts, mornings, evenings and weekends.

So, what do you need to get your foot in the door? Safety is our priority, so you will need to have (or be willing to obtain) a New Zealand Assistant Swim Teacher Award and First Aid Certificate. If you have experience in learn to swim teaching or working with children, that's even better! You bring your people skills, awesome attitude and ability to work with a diverse range of people, and we'll provide all the training you need for our learn to swim programme.

At Invercargill City Council we pride ourselves on our values - positivity, respect, responsibility and above and beyond. Finding the right fit for our team is really important to us and we work hard to provide an environment reflective of these values.

Join a team that really cares about you and have a role where no two days are the same. We pride ourselves on having a supportive system for you to grow and learn while enjoying a healthy work-life balance, and we have a great team culture for you to be a part of.

Take the plunge and join our team now!

The Invercargill City Council is committed to the wellbeing and protection of children, the elderly and vulnerable adults. As a component of this role involves interaction with one or more of the above groups, as part of the assessment of candidates, we will require Police Vetting as per the Children's Act 2014 and a Pre-employment Alcohol and Drug Screening test to ensure we are providing a safe environment for our customers and members of the public.

For more information, please see the full job description or contact the Invercargill City Council on 03 211 1777.

With the current border and quarantine restrictions in place, successful applicants must be legally entitled to live and work in New Zealand. While all applications will be reviewed, first priority will be given to those applicants who are currently residing in New Zealand.
