About the Opportunity

Alice Springs Town Council is now seeking an Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Manager to join their team on a full-time basis. 

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, this position will provide leadership and direction to a diverse team of ICT, Security and Registry professionals. 

As ICT Manager you will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of these services to Council to meet their business and strategic plan objectives. You will also have the unique opportunity to take ownership of your department and build the journey of the transformation of the council's technical infrastructure. 

Core duties:

  • Providing leadership, mentoring, and direction to the ICT, Security and Registry teams, ensuring their responsiveness to changing customer needs and the provision of high-quality services is in accordance with ICT management and service delivery frameworks;
  • Through the delivery of service planning processes, ensuring that department and team goals and objectives are set, and are in line with organisational performance and strategic objectives;
  • Monitoring feedback and contributing to the continuous improvement and innovative development of Council’s business systems. Engaging with stakeholders, applying sound Change Management practices in the delivery of positive outcomes;
  • Managing the provision of operational advice, support and training to users of Council's ICT applications, Records Management and other systems, including development of on-boarding and off-boarding processes and training programs;
  • Ensuring that all employees within the department are correctly licenced or certified, supported, trained and equipped to perform their duties competently and safely; and
  • Ensuring that Records Management, storage, security and the accessibility of Council’s digital information is in compliance with retention/disposal authorities and schedules defined in the relevant legislative, regulatory and policy.

You will also be responsible for managing budgets and grants within financial delegation limits.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need considerable practical experience managing an ICT team. A tertiary qualification in business, frontline management, information technology, or a closely related discipline will also be advantageous, as well as will a relevant professional or ICT industry (vendor) certification.

Demonstrable leadership experience is essential, as is a current NT C class driver's licence. Previous experience working with a local council, though not essential, will also help you thrive in your new role. 

In addition to the above, a few of the key attributes we are looking for are:

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, supportive and experienced in mentoring and building staff capacity (staff range from Service Desk to Senior ICT Officers, Records Management and security monitoring/CCV across the municipality).
  • A good understanding and experience with legacy systems, but innovative and forward-thinking.
  • Able to establish and work within a framework/budget and manage expectations – up and down.
  • Demonstrated successful strategic thinker and great communicator - able to develop and present plans in language everyone can understand but can ensure criticality is not lost in the message. Needs to be well-grounded in principle and practices related to business continuity – from the daily backups (and ensuring backups are regularly tested) and disaster recovery.

About the Benefits

Your dedication will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package circa $109,253 – to $116,618 (commensurate with qualifications and experience) plus super and a range of benefits to significantly increase the value of your overall remuneration package, including:

  • District Allowance, $2611 p/a with dependents. $1498 p/a without dependents
  • Relocation Allowance (with a ROSO – return of service obligation) up to $7500
  • Temp. Accommodation Allowance (with ROSO) up to $600/week for up to 6 weeks
