MRC was established in 2008 and its area covers our 13 major remote communities as well as many outstations. MRC employs over 500 staff, 370 of whom are the local Aboriginal staff.

The role:

As Work Health and Safety Officer you will support the development and implementation of WHS system to ensure compliance with WHS legislative requirements, You will also assist the Coordinator WHS with providing advice to all levels of staff regarding WHS, including the development and facilitation of toolbox talks.

Key duties:

  • Provide high level administrative support and front-line WH&S advice that supports the effective operation of the WH&S function
  • Record, track and report on incident reporting including providing support to managers related to corrective actions
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of core WH&S training such as induction, first aid, warden, 4WD and other compliance or WH&S system training. Deliver training as required and where skilled to do so
  • Maintain WH&S records and WH&S system support tools

Skills and experience:

  • Ability to interpret WH&S legislation, regulations, codes of practice and Australian Standards
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal/external clients
  • Ability to work autonomously and within broader team
  • Lateral thinking and the ability to take initiative
