9.5% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance + Uniform Provided

76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day off

 

North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader to lead our Tree Planting Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively and efficiently planning, coordinating and leading the operations of a small team to ensure that the planting, establishment and maintenance of public trees and tree sites with in the North Sydney LGA  meets performance objectives, requirements and standards as required by Council.

This permanent position will be based at the Parks & Reserves depot located in St Leonards Park in North Sydney, close to public transport and recreational facilities.

The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience with the ability to lead by example and not be afraid to roll up their sleeves to get stuck in to hard work! 

Essential

  • Certificate III Horticulture (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated extensive practical experience in the horticulture industry
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Current Driver’s Licence, Class MR or willingness to obtain
  • Physically fit to undertake duties of this position
  • Computer literacy
  • OHS Construction Induction Ticket (White card)
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Experience in leading teams as a Team Leader
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in arboriculture practices, with a focus on planting pruning and establishment of trees

Desirable

  • Front End loader licence
  • Chem Cert 3
  • Traffic Control-Blue/yellow
  • Chainsaw accreditation
  • Experience in using a Hiab
  • High Risk Licence – Dogging Ticket
