An exciting casual opportunity currently exists for an experienced Librarian to join the Customer Services department at Stanton Library in North Sydney.  This position is responsible for providing an excellent standard of service to all Stanton Library customers by supervising the Library and rostered staff during evening and weekend opening hours.  

This position requires availability for rostered shifts of 3-4.25 hours across the full range of library opening hours including evenings and weekends.

Essential

  • Eligible for professional membership of ALIA (graduate professional qualification) or another library qualification together with extensive relevant experience
  • Recent professional experience in the delivery of reference and information services, with high level skills in using information technologies, online resources and digital collections.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Experience in the provision of frontline library services and a demonstrated client focus.
  • Demonstrated proactive, problem solving approach
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift books and equipment using appropriate manual handling techniques.
  • Knowledge of WHS & EEO principles and practice

Desirable

  • Experience in staff supervision
  • Knowledge of the Aurora Library Management System
