An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and engaged individual to contribute to the operational needs of the council’s childcare centres by providing meals and snacks. This position is a part-time temporary role (working Monday and Friday) based in Tumbarumba at Carcoola’s Children’s Service. Additional hours may be available on an ad hoc basis.

Key components of this position will require the successful candidate to:

1. Deliver the planning, preparation and cooking of meals and snacks to support efficient service delivery.
2. Provide effective health and safety practices to safeguard others from hazards or harm.
3. Promote information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision-making, enhance capability and optimise capacity.
4. Provide and supervise cooking experiences for children.
5. Deliver to Munch and Move program; and recommended food and nutrition programs and initiatives.
6. Purchase all groceries in order to implement the planned menus, in consideration of the Centre’s food budget and in consultation with the Centre Coordinator

The successful candidate for this position will have, or be working towards:

1. Certificates Workplace Hygiene; Menu Planning or Food Safety Supervisors.
2. Contemporary experience in planning, preparing and evaluating meals for children.
3. Broad knowledge of Australian Children Services Delivery (e.g. National Quality Framework and Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics).
4. Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of customer service to internal and external customers.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

SALARY
Salary will be paid in accordance with the Snowy Valleys Council Salary System at Grade 2. This grade ranges from $1855.60 to $2088.50 per fortnight (pro rata for part time) plus 9.5% superannuation, negotiable based on skills, experience and education.
