Moonee Valley City Council’s Aged and Disability Department

Moonee Valley City Council’s Aged and Disability Department provides a comprehensive range of support services, community linkage, advice and referral to assist residents who are either frail aged, have a disability or who are a primary carer, to remain connected and safe in their home and chosen communities. The services are vital to the quality of life enjoyed by individuals and families within Moonee Valley and operate as part of a wide-ranging service system involving the State and Federal Government, non-government and community-based organisations.

The Opportunity

This position will see you developing, implementing and evaluating Community Strengthening initiatives that aim to improve the livelihood of our community and their Carers, including action plans relating to the following:

  • Becoming a more Dementia Friendly Community;
  • Addressing the impacts of Elder Abuse;
  • Improving the outcomes for homeless people; and,
  • Improving the response to our LGBTIQ+ community.

You will also be responsible for developing, coordinating and evaluating groups and events which provide opportunities for Carer’s within our community.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree qualification in social sciences or allied health including Social Work, Community Development or public policy and planning with demonstrated relevant experience;
  • Experience in working with people with disability, the frail aged, vulnerable residents and Carer’s in a community development role;
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement, community development and project management; and,
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills, and the ability to prepare reports and project plans for a range of audiences with varied timeframes.
