Invercargill City Council are seeking an experienced and motivated HR practitioner to join our existing People and Capability team.

Reporting to the Manager - People and Capability, you will hit the ground running in this fast-paced and varied position partnering with our people leaders across the organisation delivering best practice and outcomes-focused HR solutions.

With a relevant tertiary qualification or significant relevant experience working as a generalist HR practitioner, your knowledge and expertise will shine as you build rapport and actively provide specialist advice, support and coaching through various People and Capability functions including recruitment and selection, induction, performance management, employee relations and employment conditions.

The key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Supporting business performance through the delivery of value-added People and Capability services and solutions;
  • Identifying resourcing issues and developing plans to ensure that Invercargill City Council has the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time;
  • Working with our managers to create development and talent plans that align with organisational priorities;
  • Supporting organisational change, ensuring we have a consistent approach across the organisation;
  • Designing and delivering projects in conjunction with the People and Capability team to drive continuous improvement;
  • Maintaining awareness of developments in People and Capability policies and procedures and how they should be applied across the organisation, in order to provide appropriate advice to management; and
  • Building strong internal working relationships with all Invercargill City Council employees.
