Children's Services:

Georges River Council owns and operates six children’s services across our LGA located at Beverley Hills, Carss Park, Hurstville, Kogarah, Penshurst, South Hurstville and a new purpose built service in Oatley West, near completion. Council’s Children’s Services educate and care for approximately 400 children with enrolments continuing to grow.  We have a team who have been recognised for excellence in Environmental Programming and we are proud of our Reconciliation Action Plan which is developed in consultation with Aboriginal staff and community members.

Our educators take pride in their Early Childhood Education profession. We adhere to the guidelines, practices and regulations surrounding the National Quality Standards (NQS) and regularly review Quality Improvement Plans.  Our services strive for excellence with two of our services receiving an overall exceeding rating by ACECQA. Our staff appreciate that we are a culturally diverse, united, supportive and social team. Our teams value and aim to create a positive, inclusive, motivated and collaborative work place culture.

There are many opportunities for both professional and skill development whilst employed at Georges River Council and opportunities for career progression either within or outside of Children’s Services. We have a range of roles in education, management, administration or food catering and current staff studying towards higher qualifications.

Work Experience Program Children’s Services

Our work experience program provides students with an unpaid opportunity to gain on-the-job experience and an insight into Children's Services within our local government environment.

Work experience placements are available throughout the year and are offered based on your details provided within your application. Consideration with placements is made on the area of interest, duration and dates required and whether the work area can provide an effective on-the-job experience.

Due to the high volumes of requests received for placement the number and timing of placements we are not able to accept all placements. We contact you as soon as possible to confirm whether a placement can be accommodated based on you application.

Eligibility

Eligibility for work experience/ placement is currently for one University student per Centre. Students will be required to provide proof that they are covered by Public Liability Insurance by a recognised school, tertiary institution or referral agency.

Although we will consider requests from any student, preference will be given to students who live or study within our Local Government Area.

Please note, If you are under 18 years of age you will need approval from a parent or caregiver.

Please note, for placement in Children's Services, if you are over the age of 18 your will be required to supply a current Working With Children's Check (volunteer) and Criminal Record Check Clearance, Public Liability Indemnity Insurance and Photo Identification that must be attached in your application.
