As a Systems Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and developing of financial system processes and user tools.
  • Managing month-end and year-end roll-over of the general ledger (actuals, forecast and budget) ensuring data is accurate and complete and security controls over data are upheld.
  • Building new and maintaining existing database queries to extract data within report formats from the financial system to improve decision making of stakeholders.
  • Manage various inter-system engagements / integrations, ensuring the efficient and accurate flow of information from one data source or system to another.
  • Provide expert advice, training and support on the system and processes to various internal stakeholders.
  • Champion user acceptance testing and project manage the implementation of new or improved financial management initiatives and software tools.

To succeed in this position you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining financial management applications and software, preferably in a large organisation.
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders offering solutions to problems based on the stakeholder’s requirements.
  • Strong time management skills and an ability to prioritise tasks despite competing demands.
  • Knowledge of the operations and requirements of Local Government Accounting is highly desirable as is TechnologyOne experience.
