Walgett Shire is in the Outback Region of NSW along the banks of the Barwon and Namoi Rivers. The Shire comprises several towns and villages; including Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri, Burren Junction, Carinda, Rowena, Pokataroo, Cumborah, Cryon and Come-by Chance, Grawin, Glengarry and Sheepyards and covers an area of approximately 22,000 square kilometres. Each of the towns and villages have their own stories to tell and personalities to meet but the rural charm with country hospitality is found everywhere. Walgett Shire Council seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and results focussed Director of Environmental Services. You will be responsible for planning, leading and managing the delivery of the Environmental Services Division ensuring that it’s services and deliverables are of the highest possible standard and meet Council’s strategic and operational requirements. You will oversee the management and operation of building and environmental services, waste management and recycling services, LEP & DCP’s, development approvals, heritage control and animal control.
To be successful in this role you will have qualifications suitable for recognition by the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors and/or the Planning Institute of Australia and management experience at a senior level in one or more of the disciplines within the environmental services portfolio of responsibilities. You will play an integral role in cultural change and heightening the organisation’s service to its customers and the community.
