Interpretation & Strategy Coordinator



About the role

This position is a job-share temporary 18 month position and will be responsible for their own specific projects within the role.  The position will lead and manage specific heritage interpretation projects, providing advice, evaluation and innovation to deliver best practice heritage interpretation of the City of Parramatta by broadening people’s awareness of the City of Parramatta’s culture, heritage and identity.

On a daily basis you will:

  • Provide leadership, advice and strategic direction to staff and contractors for heritage interpretation
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders on Council-led projects that have a requirement for heritage interpretation and community engagement deliverables on these projects.


About the person


The successful candidate should have demonstrated skills, experience and success in interpretation, heritage, arts, or cultural heritage, in a strategic planning role.

Tertiary qualifications in interpretation, cultural heritage, tourism, strategic project management or related field.

Demonstrable experience in and knowledge of cultural heritage, aboriginal cultural protocols, interpretation theory and informal learning theory and practice. 

Highly developed and demonstrable skills in initiating, developing, implementing, promoting and evaluating cultural and community projects which includes a range of interpretation media. 

High level project planning, development and management skills.
