Engineering Officer

About the position:

The Engineering Officer provides technical support across the Infrastructure Services department with a focus on land development engineering requirements and the engineering review of development applications.  This position will coordinate the development and review of the technical requirements in the City’s Development Specifications.  In addition, this position will undertake engineering investigations as required with respect to traffic management, asset management, lighting, drainage and projects related to open space, road reconstruction, renewals, asset infrastructure planning and modelling.

Key accountabilities:

  • Coordinate the engineering review of development applications and work in collaboration with the Urban & Regional Development team to achieve the City’s land development objectives;
  • Carry out site inspections and risk assessments, conduct engineering investigations and provide recommendations as required;
  • Assist and contribute towards the identification, development, implementation and review of guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to infrastructure assets;
  • Liaise with other City departments/branches/teams as necessary and external agencies as required for development engineering applications and all other infrastructure technical enquiries;
  • Engage in high-level advocacy with State Government and other agencies in the development of studies relating to local government infrastructure assets, plans and policies.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will hold a degree in Civil Engineering and have experience in strategic infrastructure planning investigations including roads, traffic engineering, drainage, stormwater and parks.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $85,546 per annum or $43.29 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualification.
