  • Influence organisational best practice project management

This is such an awesome opportunity for a motivated and credible Project Manager to join our newly formed Project Management Office.

Wellington is growing significantly. By 2050 our city will have grown by at least 50,000 inhabitants, with a projected total population of up to 280,000. To accommodate all of these new Wellingtonians we need to develop our city. Wellington City Council play a very important part in building a healthy, vibrant, affordable and resilient city with a strong sense of identity and "place" for all Wellingtonians.

The Project Management Office (PMO) is a newly created unit that sits within the recently formed Infrastructure & Delivery Group to ensure effective programme & project governance and delivery across the organisation with a focus on the capital programme through better coordination and collaboration.

We have a lot of projects in pipeline and on the go! Joining as our Project Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery right from its conception including business case development, financial management & budgeting, monitoring & reporting and quality control. Key to your success in this role will be your ability to work collaboratively within the team and with a diverse group of stakeholders within a complex political environment. With your strong influencing and clear communication skills, you will be able to get alongside the stakeholders, understand their imperatives, and look for the win-win.

You will utilise your political acumen, ability to think outside the box and a customer centric mindset to ensure we deliver the best possible outcome for the project even while working through what may appear as conflicting and contrary requirements.

We are looking for a solid project management professional with a successful track record of delivering projects in a complex and similar setting preferably in central or local government.
