What we are looking for:

The successful applicant will be responsible for the overall development and maintenance of the Laboratory Quality Systems as well as take a senior role as a Chemist and technical reference.  The focus of this position is to ensure the implementation and operation of quality systems and procedures to consistently drive accuracy, reliability and efficiency in all aspects of Laboratory operation.

The successful applicant will hold Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry at degree level or above and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a laboratory.  It is also essential to have a high degree of experience with NATA ISO 17025 Quality Assurance Standards and protocols.  A current Queensland Class “C” Drivers’ Licence is also essential.

Applicants experienced in auditing, with relevant audit qualifications, will be highly regarded, as will those with a proven ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as Flow Injection Analyser, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry, Ion Chromatography and UV – Vis Spectrophotometers.  

The ideal candidate would also be well versed in the use of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), have a working knowledge of environmental sampling techniques, with problem solving skills and experience working within a water/wastewater testing laboratory
