Sport & Recreation Participation Officer

 Sport and Recreation Participation Officer

  •      BAND 6, salary range $86,199 - $93,960 + 9.5% Superannuation
  •      Full time - Maternity Leave backfill, offered initially for eight months.
  •      Located at St Kilda Town Hall (or during COVID-19 Pandemic, with ELT/DHHS direction, this role is able to work from home and is predominantly based online).

About the Organisation

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more.  

About the Role

An enthusiastic individual with a team focus that has recreation and wellbeing leadership experience combined with excellent customer service and communication skills is required to work in this position.  Vital to success in the role will be your ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, manage user group agreements and implement sport and recreation programs.

Duties:

  • Develop and implement participation programs for the community
  • Support and oversee fitness and recreation providers
  • Increase recreation activities and opportunities
  • Innovate to get more people active
  • Oversee and activate recreation infrastructure and open spaces

Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with sport, recreation and fitness groups
  • Demonstrated skills and experience overseeing user agreements
  • Tertiary qualification (or substantial experience) suitable for the position
