Town of Port Hedland have an exciting opportunity for a hands on Engineering Graduate looking to kick start their career! As a graduate, you will have the opportunity to join a team working on Project planning and design, road and storm water drainage design, building construction, and gain skills in a relevant program. This position will complete duties under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, and will receive ongoing guidance and support in the application of tasks.

We are working off of a vision, but in order to make it a reality, we need a team which is eager to build an experience that will make great contributions to our projects, positive culture, and we are in need of a motivated graduate to join our team.

The Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing engineering support across the Engineering Services team, including; asset management, capital works, project planning, design and investigations.

  • To take proactive role in project development, implementation and execution processes
  • To assist with the facilitation of project administration including investigations, feasibility studies, grant application and acquittals, tender processes and progress reports as required
  • Research and prepare reports and recommendations on Engineering projects
  • Ongoing compliance with the Town’s Safety Management System and audit programs in line with the relevant Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Health and Safety Policies and Procedure

 Position Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or relevant field
  • A basic understanding of technical design and construction drawings
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Blue/White Construction Safety Card
