The Opportunity

Georges River Council is implementing a realignment of services and structure within the Development and Building Business Unit to achieve:

  • An increase in the number of operational positions to positively influence productivity
  • Creation of a career progression structure which provides high level technical support at an operational level
  • Increase team capacity to provide expert evidence in Land & Environment Court Proceedings
  • Overall to improve organisational efficiency

Council is seeking dedicated and passionate Student Development Assessment Planners to come on board in our dynamic and busy Development and Building team. You will assist in the assessment of a range of development applications for compliance with relevant standards and all legislative, statutory and control code requirements.

  • Temporary part-time - 42 hours per fortnight, up to 12 months
  • Salary from $53,391 - $61,860.60 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation

Essential:

  • Enrolled in relevant tertiary study, working towards qualification (Town Planning or similar).
  • A demonstrated understanding of the legislation, codes and standards relating to Development Assessment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as positively contributing to a team.
  • Sound expertise in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
